Went out to Amherst for the Jones Group Realtors 10 Mile Road Race. I did 3 miles of warm up, 10 miles in 56:12 (results), 5 miles cool down. Course was a mess with the snow last night, but it was still good for a nice hard run! Race report will be posted soon!

Easy running from in Andover out to Vale Street. Felt pretty slow and heavy today which was to be expected after Sundays effort.

2/15 Tuesday: 10 miles in 72 minutes

Ran the Rattlesnake Hill loop. Felt a bit better today but still pretty tired. Did 6 x 20 second strides towards the end of the run.

2/16 Wednesday: AM: 5 miles in 40 minutes PM: 10 miles in 70 minutes

AM: Easy treadmill running at home.

PM: Running from the Whirlaway with Jim Johnson. Felt pretty good and the pace came pretty easy.

2/17 Thursday: AM: 4 miles in 32 minutes PM: 12 miles in 90 minutes

AM: Easy running on the treadmill at home. For some reason I really aggravated my left foot this morning. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to loosen up before running.

PM: Spent a lot of time stretching and rolling a tennis ball with my foot to loosen it up today. Foot felt much better for my run. Ran with Craig Fram and John Gorman from the Whirlaway. The pace stayed pretty relaxed which was great, and the foot actually felt OK.

2/18 Friday: AM: 5 miles in 40 minutes PM: 10 miles in 71 minutes

AM: Easy treadmill running at home

PM: Rattlesnake Hill Loop. What a great day for a run! Felt a bit heavy, but to be expected with the jump in mileage. Did 6 x 20 second strides towards the end of the run.

2/19 Saturday: 7.5 miles in 54 minutes then 10.2 miles hiking

Easy running in Campton from the school out to Perch Pond Road and back. Wind was blowing pretty hard this morning making this run nice and cold! What a difference from yesterday.

After running Heather and I went for a great hike. We hiked from route 302 up Zealand Road to the Hale Brook Trail and to the summit of Mt. Hale. We actually saw quite a few people out there on the trail enjoying the day. This was number 42 out of the 48 New Hampshire 4000 footers for me, only 6 more to go!

2/20 Sunday: 5.5 miles in 44 minutes

Very easy treadmill run at home. Feeling a little beat today from the hiking, so I went easy and will run my long run tomorrow.

Total Miles: 76

A really good week! 76 miles of running and 10.2 miles of hiking and I still managed to have a very easy 5.5 mile day. The only thing missing was a long run, and that will be done tomorrow!

Training 2/7 to 2/13

2/7 Monday: 8.2 miles in 60 minutes

Run from Whirlaway with Jim Johnson. Running the roads at night sucks with no sidewalks or any kind of shoulder at all.

Treadmill run at home. Felt OK, just wanted to get this run done.

2/9 Wednesday: 10 miles in 68 minutes

Ran from Cedarland in Haverhill. Did 6 x 20 second strides towards end of the run. Felt pretty good today. Left foot is a little sore in heel area.

2/10 Thursday: 10 miles in 72 minutes

Rattlesnake Hill loop. Tried to keep things pretty easy today. Left foot still bothering me a bit today.

2/11 Friday: 10.4 miles in 72 minutes

Andover Center run. Felt alright, my left foot felt a little better today after doing some stretching and massage yesterday. I think i just need to keep on it with stretching and massage.
Did 6 x 20 second strides towards the end of the run.

2/12 Saturday: 6.5 miles in 50 minutes

Easy treadmill running at home.

2/13 Sunday: 18 miles in 120 minutes (Garmin)

Ran from the Whirlaway with a nice group of guys including Dan Princic, Mark Hudson, Craig Fram, Marty Lechleider, Eric Beauchesne, and Mike Cooney. The pace was pretty easy for the first couple miles.......but that was it. Soon Marty was off the back and Cooney was out front pushing the pace. The rest of the run was all sub 7 minute pace, with the last half mostly in the 6:15 to 6:25 range. The overall pace was just under 6:40. A bit quicker than I had hoped to go today, but it was a very solid run that I feel pretty good about.

Total Miles: 71.1

Its good to be back! Finally a solid week with some good running.
